The HRI Lab, short for Human-Robot Interaction Lab, functions as a collaborative workspace initiated by different senior researchers affiliated with George Mason University.

Our collective efforts are dedicated to pursuing substantial projects and providing diverse opportunities for (under)graduate students to actively participate in research related to human-robot interaction. At the heart of our lab are weekly lab meetings that bring together members at every academic level.

Opportunities for Involvement in the HRI Lab

The lab meetings in Spring 2025 take place on Wednesdays at 10:30 am in the HRI Lab DKH 2013. Our first meeting will be January 22nd.

The HRI lab offers various levels of involvement to suit different interests and commitments. Active participation is essential. To contribute meaningfully, you must select at least one of the following tasks per semester:

  • Rate at least three provided scales to support the lab’s scale database.
  • Identify and shorten a scale from the HRI literature, potentially involving new data collection.
  • Develop a new scale to address a specific research question.
  • Design and conduct an experiment to further HRI research.

These tasks must be carried out in collaboration with lab coordinators, who will provide guidance and support for all aspects of the work, including selecting scales, shortening them, creating new ones, or running experiments. Active involvement is non-negotiable and ensures the lab’s collective success.

We’re excited for a productive semester with all of you!
